Aelfred
Named for Aelfred the Great, the 9th-century king of Wessex and the only English monarch ever to earn that title. Alfred is the figure who stopped the Viking conquest of England in its tracks, codified English law, and championed education at a time when most of Europe was sliding the other way. He wasn't East Anglian, but his reign shaped everything that came after in the land we now call England.
Stay in Aelfred if you like your retreats named for someone with a proper reputation.
Situated in privately owned woodland in picturesque Suffolk, West Stow Pods welcomes you to stay in one of our four Pods. Each Pod is fully self-contained and is suited to sleep up to four people; ideally 2 adults and 2 children or 3 adults. However, can accommodate up to 4 adults, if preferred.
The Pods are situated about 20 to 30 meters apart (about 60ft) in a calm woodland setting, offering privacy if you are travelling as a couple or single or family, but within a reasonable distance if you are glamping with a bigger group, perfect for both groups to solo travellers.

Hi, we're Olly & Alper 👋
We took on West Stow Pods after deciding we'd rather spend our days somewhere with birdsong than another year at our desks — and we haven't looked back. Olly's background is in psychology and catering (a useful combination for keeping both guests and barbecues happy), while Alper brings years of experience from his family's business in Turkey. Between us, we now spend our time looking after this little corner of Suffolk woodland and the guests who come to enjoy it.
Our hosting style is simple: there when you need us, invisible when you don't. Check-in is contactless, your privacy is yours, and if you need anything — a restaurant recommendation, a fire pit, the code to the bits and bobs shed — we're a WhatsApp message away and quick to reply. We know every walk, pub and shortcut around here, so do ask.
We're a small, independently-run site and proud of it. You'll always be dealing with us directly — no call centres, no scripts, just two people who care that your stay is a good one.
